Choosing an icon style for your course | Top

Use this feature to set the style for all icon images.

  1. From the Control Panel, click Course Settings. The Course Settings screen appears.
  2. Under Customize Course Appearance, click Modify icon style. The Modify Icon Style screen appears.
  3. Select the desired icon style:
    • The Photo icons are photographic images with no text.
    • The Text icons include five choices of colored text with a swash underline.
    • The Graphic icons include Formal, Formal (no text), Casual, Casual transparent, or Casual transparent (no text). Casual transparent indicates that the backdrop of the icon image is transparent, allowing the color of the screen background to be seen. No text indicates that the icon appears on screen without a label.
  4. To apply the selection, click Update. The Course Settings screen appears and the icon is updated.
Changing an individual icon image | Top

Use this feature to change the appearance or style of an individual icon.

  1. From the Control Panel, click Course Settings. The Course Settings screen appears.
  2. Under Customize Course Appearance, click Replace individual icon. The Replace Individual Icon screen appears.
  3. Click the tool icon that you want to change. The Replace Icon screen appears.
  4. Select the icon image or use the WebCT default.
    • To select a new icon:
      1. Click Browse. The WebCT Browser opens. Note: Icon images can be found in the Icon subfolder in the WebCT-Files folder. You can also upload a .gif or .jpg image file into the My-Files folder to use as an icon in your course. For more information on uploading files, see WebCT Browser .
      2. Click Update. The Replace Individual Icon screen appears and the icon is updated.
    • To use the default icon, click WebCT Default. The Replace Individual Icon screen appears and the default icon is displayed.
  5. Click Done. The Course Settings screen appears.

Restoring WebCT Default icons | Top

You can revert all course tool icons to the default icons supplied by WebCT.

  1. From the Control Panel, click Course Settings. The Course Settings screen appears.
  2. Under Customize Course Appearance, click Replace individual icon. The Replace Individual Icon screen appears.
  3. Click Restore WebCT defaults. A warning message appears.
  4. Click OK. The Replace Individual Icon screen refreshes and the icons are updated.
Note: Discussions, Calendar, and Mail allow you to specify an additional icon to indicate unread postings, events, or mail. If this field is left blank, the icon will default to that specified in the first icon field, or to the WebCT default if that field is also left blank.
